Subscribesitting poolside enjoying the summer breeze in galveston,tx. we are close to the beach so the breeze is intense, but in a good way.
yesterday i drove here with my sister and four nephews. i have been to the island before but they had never been. short trip, we are leaving tomorrow. the drive 45 south down to galveston is so boring. when i drive to houston i always stop in huntsville to eat. huntsville has a well known prison. you can see it off the highway. also it has the huge statue of sam houston that towers over the interstate. exit 116 has a good mcdonalds.
the trip was a little bit last minute. i didn’t book the hotel until monday.
this morning we got up early to hit the beach. good idea because it was empty. we got there at around 730 and it was empty for a good while. when I came a few years back it was on the weekend and extremely crowded. hurricane ike came through here last fall and did really bad damage, but things along the seawall look fine. well, near our hotel anyway. the beach would be perfect if it wasn’t for all the sand that gets into everything! lol. tomorrow we are going to try to get to the beach even earlier.
